Andrei Sannikau, former presidential candidate and political prisoner will be our special guest for the evening. Like few others he has experienced the brutality of Lukashenka’s repression. Serving as Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus in 1995-1996, he decided to resign from his post as it became clear that basic principles of democracy would not be respected during Lukashenka’s rule. Gradually he became one of Lukashenka’s most outspoken critics, and consequently, a main target of the of the repressive regime.
