Georgia at a crossroads: the future of democracy in Georgia after the 2024 election
The parliamentary elections on October 26 is the first after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. It was held after widespread mass protests against the controversial new laws where introduced, the Russian-styled so-called ”foreign agent” law, adopted by the ruling party Georgian Dream. What does the results of the election imply for democracy and human rights in Georgia?
We are delighted to have Tamar Oniani, Human Rights Director at the Georgian Young Lawyers Association as our guest, together with Dr. Per Ekman, an expert on Georgian politics, and the Swedish journalist Rasmus Canbäck, newly returned from Georgia.
Östgruppen will cater for lighter snacks and the bar will be open from 18.00.
Time: 19th of November, at 18.30
Place: Louie Louie (Reco’s Café), Bondegatan 13, at Södermalm (Stockholm)
The discussion will be held in English
